College Power Rankings, Presented By NUTC [Feb 14, 2018]
It's all D-III in a weekend where many ranked teams were in play at the Stanford Open and beyond. There's changes to the top 5 in both divisions to chew on!
Every Wednesday, we will post the College Power Rankings here on the front page to facilitate discussion in the comments and serve as a permalink for each week’s rankings.
The most impactful move this weekend was Carleton Eclipse‘s fall from #3 to #14, after going 3-3 at the Stanford Open despite being the no. 2 seed, including a loss to new #18, Pacific Lutheran. The reigning champions have work to do.
Claremont jumped 8 spots, to #16 from #24, after splitting games with Pacific Lutheran and taking a close loss against #4 Puget Sound at Stanford Open.
Away from the Stanford Open, Georgia College gained an extra spot by advancing to the final, where they narrowly lost to Maryland.
#6 Carleton GoP‘s 10-9 victory over #7 Colorado College in the 5th place game of Stanford Open shifted both teams around. Colorado College fell from the #2 spot while Carleton was lifted up from the #9 ranking.
#12 Whitman gained six spots, moving up after going 5-3 at Stanford Open, moving them into the top 15. It makes them to the top ranked team of four in the competitive Northwest region.
Speaking of the Northwest, #25 Puget Sound dropped four spots to the last spot in the rankings, following a 2-win weekend at Stanford Open, including an 0-3 showing in pool play. Meanwhile, #22 Lewis & Clark rejoins the top 25 after falling out three weeks ago. This is their highest ranking of the season, helped largely by a 10-6 win over Claremont this past weekend.
